Education

Since 2009 - PhD research student at Ulster University – School of Environmental Sciences.
Project: Late Quaternary sedimentation associated with the British-Irish Ice Sheet on the NW Irish continental slope: a marine geological and geophysical investigation

2001 - Master of Science (summa cum laude) in Marine Environmental Science at Università degli Studi di Bologna (Italy) with research thesis: “Study of the recent sedimentation and geochemistry of the Cheko Lake (Central Siberia): possible correlations with the Tunguska event”. The thesis, developed at the Marine Geology Department of the National Research Council, involved the use of different sedimentological techniques (i.e.: grain-size and mineralogical analyses) and geochemical analyses (137Cs and 210Pb, CHN, ∆13C and ∆15N).

1994 Obtained A Levels in commercial business management.

Work Experience

2003 to 09-2009 - Employed at Marine Institute of Ireland as Hydrographic Team Leader with duty of offshore chief scientist, hydrographic surveyor and multibeam data processor, (www.infomar.ie).

2001-2003 - Freelance surveyor/data processor for THALES GEOSOLUTIONS with duties of multibeam systems installation (RESON), bathymetric survey and data processing.

2009 Awarded INFOMAR research grant “Deep-water sediment transport on the margins of Rockall Trough: new interpretation from high-resolution multibeam and sidescan sonar TOBI data”.
