Dr Patricia Gillen
Biography
Patricia is a registered nurse and midwife and has worked as a midwife and labour ward sister in large urban hospitals. In 1997, she was appointed as the manager of a rural maternity unit and while there undertook research into midwifery led care. She also worked as a Supervisor of Midwives.
In January 2002, she took up a post as a Lecturer within the University of Ulster and successfully completed her PhD in July 2007. Her research explored the nature and manifestations of bullying in Midwifery, for which she was awarded the RCM Ruth Davies Research Bursary. She is currently working as the Academic Coordinator for Post Registration Education within the School of Nursing, University of Ulster.
Research Interests
Patricia’s research includes bullying in the workplace, midwifery led care, domestic violence, stress in the workplace, student feedback and assessment and midwifery theory.Current Research Projects
