The Northern Ireland Countryside Survey (NICS) is made up of a series study areas (sampling strata) within which habitats are mapped. The types and distribution of habitats in the study areas is related to their landscape structure and land use. Information about habitats in the study areas gives local context to countryside change. It is important to assess how habitats and change patterns are distributed between study areas so that local biodiversity priorities can be developed. |
