Buildings/curtilage
Buildings/curtilage are part of the Buildings & roads (Landscape features) Primary Habitat group. Modern, vernacular and derelict buildings are included. Curtilage is ground associated with a building which has a use linked with the building, e.g., gardens, grounds and car parks. Note that because all landscape features have not yet been digitised in NICS, full statistical estimates are not available.

The following habitats are included -

Urban: blocks of land associated with towns and villages or areas in the countryside developed for housing including their curtilage.
Industrial/commercial/public: land developed for industry or public buildings/car parks including their curtilage.
Agricultural buildings: single or groups of buildings and structures used for agriculture. Farm houses and their curtilage are included.
Domestic building: Rural houses not associated with agricultural buildings including their curtilage.
Amenity grassland: Includes football pitches, parks and golf courses, usually dominated by ryegrass.
