Roads/tracks/verge

Roads/tracks/verge are part of the Buildings & roads (Landscape features) Primary Habitat group. They may be metalled (usually asphalt or concrete) or unmetalled (loose mineral material). Note that because all landscape features have not yet been digitised in NICS, full statistical estimates are not available. The following habitats are included -

Road/track: a road or farm track metalled or unmetalled. Railway track: mainly lines and hard cover. Verge/embankment: vegetation >5m wide. Usually dominated by grassland of low species diversity.
