The School of Psychology
offers courses in Psychology at Coleraine, Jordanstown and Magee.At Coleraine the school
offers honours degrees in Social Psychology and Social Psychology
and Sociology; at Jordanstown there is an honours degree and MSc
in Applied Psychology; at Magee College an honours degree in Psychology
commences in October 2001.
In April 2000, Psychology within the School of Psychology underwent
a rigorous and systematic audit of its education provision. This
was undertaken by a group of external reviewers nominated by the
QAA.
The outcome was a score of 23 out of a possible 24. Psychology
was strongly commended for its links with the outside community.There are active programs
of research on all three campuses, involving more than 40 research
students in Psychology.
A substantial part of
the School's teaching is provided for students taking other subjects.
These include degrees in Humanities, Social Sciences, Health Sciences,
Business Studies, and Educational Studies, as well as certificate
and diploma courses.
The School carries out
research in psychology and its many applications. General facilities
are available for laboratory work, qualitative and quantitative
research and on-line computer control of experiments. Facilities
have been developed at Magee college in a new building programme,
and practical facilities at Coleraine were recently refurbished. There are strong links
with two of the University's research centres; the Centre for the
Study of Conflict, the Centre for Health and Social Research. |
