THE PROGRAMME

Evaluation/ re-validation
The ways in which student achievement is assessed is described in evaluation and revalidation documentation for programmes. In particular, the Programme Specification and the associated assessment strategies will describe the generality of the ways in which assessment is conducted for the programme. These documents are normally in force for a period of five years. Any changes to the assessment regulations of a programme must be considered by the staff through the relevant course committee, by the students through the relevant staff-student consultative committee and by the external examiner. Where a change will affect students currently enrolled on a programme their written permission for the change must be obtained prior to the submission of a CA3 form.

Programme administration
The conduct of a programme is the responsibility of the Course Committee, including the Head of School and chaired by the Course Director.

Programme handbooks
A programme handbook shall be produced annually

The University recommends the outline content for a programme handbook. This advice is contained in Appendix 1. The content and format contained in this advice should be followed as closely as possible. In addition, under the heading of Teaching, Learning and Assessment it should contain the following information:

· A policy statement on plagiarism (see Appendix 3);

· The consequences of assessment, e.g. decisions regarding progress to the next level, final awards and details of the appeal process;

· How and when progress decisions will be communicated;

· The opportunities for re-assessment.
